In 2003, my hubby and I decided I would leave my sales & marketing career to embark on an entire new adventure. I traded in my suits (and some really cute shoes) for yoga pants and tennis shoes. Presto, I was a stay-at home mom! A few years later all of my kiddos were in school (we had 3 at this time) and I was beginning to realize that as much as I loved being home with the kids, I needed something else in my life. I needed to work. I began trying to decide what I would do, I knew returning to my previous career wasn’t an option because of the long hours and inflexible scheduling, plus I still wanted to be home with the kids. As I was trying to decide what I wanted to be when I "grew up", SURPRISE! We found out I was expecting!
Little did I know that this wonderful, yet unexpected, news would end up being the inspiration I was seeking. It all started when I was restricted to the couch during the pregnancy. I have never been one to sit still for very long and quickly discovered that hours of channel surfing wasn’t as fun as I had always dreamt. One night while brain storming with my hubby, we drew some fun graphics that would be adorable on trendy maternity t-shirts. My hubby (did I mention he is handsome and wonderful?) helped me redirect my pent-up energy to form a new company, which we affectionately named NOKTUP, after my condition. Quickly the company grew and we expanded to include mom and kids tees. Our tees are sold online and in various boutiques across the south and mid-west.
In 2009 Americans began to tighten their wallets and boutique sales started to decline. In response to the declining retail market I decided to broaden my focus. I begain to offer canvas art work and I decided to put my years of sales and marketing expereince to use. I began to provide marketing services and graphic design work for small businesses. This transformation caused me to rethink my company name. Early in 2010, NOKTUP was re-branded as Way2Serious. You ask, why Way2Serious? First, it is unique, people will remember it. Second, life is serious and sometimes stressful. I believe that our faith, love, hope and sense of humor that allows us to prevail. Why be, "Way 2 Serious?" Let's enjoy life while loving and laughing.
My goal is to deliver high quality products at a competitive price. Most importantly, is to give back and to teach my children the importance of helping others. Because of this belief, Way2Serious gives a portion of our sales to charitable organizations and we often donate products to different events in the community.
Currently, I am still a stay-at-home mom and I work my business around my family. I couldn't imagine having it any other way. I have my cake and eat it too!
